Our image of perfect apples and pears is out of date. Oddly shaped food is now often discarded or processed because it does not fit into our beauty ideal. Potatoes in the form of hearts and tomatoes suddenly look like they have gotten a face. The green boomerang is actually a very curvy cucumber: UGLY FOOD©.

 

We have conceived the idea to give Ugly Food © a second chance. We think it is not ethical to throw 40 million of 2nd or 3rd kind of fruit and vegetables per year away because they "accidentally" are not accepted. Why does everything needs to look perfect when they taste the same? They may be 100% ugly,  but 200% tasty.

Half of the world continue to suffer from hunger, but so garbage becomes food. For hospital kitchens, caterers, canteens and restaurants because they are a cheaper alternative. For these food processors the taste and nutrition is more important. And whether a carrot has two legs, a pepper a extra thick lob, the taste is just as good. Moreover, nobody sees the deviation of nature when the food is on our plate.

Ugly Food has contact with several growers. Even with the auction, she is busy. In addition, customers are very interested.
